My name is Erin Van Genderen.
I'm a writer, with a degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas.
I'm also a dietetics student at the University of Alabama. After working as a freelance journalist in the health and wellness field, I decided to go back to school to become a Registered Dietitian. The journey to this career change hasn't been easy, but it has been challenging and rewarding, serving to re-stimulated my sense of curiosity and open up a wide world of possibilities.
My interests include the ketogenic diet, behavior change and nutrition counseling, developing nutrition education programs, and sustainable food systems. I'd like to learn more about MNT for diabetes and nutrition therapy for cancer treatment, among other topics.
When I'm not studying, I enjoy hiking around the island of Oahu, getting stronger at my local CrossFit box, and cooking up meals made with fresh, local goods. I also love reading, knitting, stand-up paddleboarding, and international travel.
